Dance-Participants will learn movement by listening to their own body rhythms, musical cues, partner negotiation and spatial awareness. The class will use costumes and props to inspire our interpretation of stories through movement.
Music-Young voices will be approached with care and specific attention to a child's vocal needs. Participants will develop singing abilities through group exercises and songs appropriate for the young singer. Musical theatre is included in the repertoire. Dance movement and props may be used to enhance the musical performance.
Theatre-Participants will learn the fundamentals of theatre through role playing, character exploration and improvisation games. Exerpts from folklore and musical theatre will be performed at the end of the week.
Visual Art-A variety of materials will be used such as paint, papermaking, sculpture and clay. Examples of classical art forms will be discussed as a springboard to train the artistic eye and teach technique.
